"Flight of the Earls" Opens This Week at Orlando Shakes

When I'm not busy reporting on Orlando's theme parks or reviewing a new area cultural offering, you'll often find me behind the scenes of our local theaters. I'm proud to announce that my Empty Spaces Theatre Co, in cooperation with Lima/Stonerock Productions, will present Christopher Humble's The Flight of the Earls at the Orlando Shakespeare Center beginning this Thursday (March 29 through April 8).

The show, which is directed by John DiDonna with assistance from myself and Kevin G. Becker, is a fast-paced political drama set in 1971 Northern Ireland. In it, Catholic family is divided over loyalty to the IRA, when a peace-advocate wife discovers that her husband and brother-in-law are in charge of a terrorist organization. Filled with action, passion, and black humor, this show has a relavent message about the role of violence in sparking, or retarding, social change.

Here are a selection of promotion photos featuring the cast, taken with the wonderful Hipstamatic camera app. The first shots feature Stephen Lima, CK Anderson, and Chris Prueitt; the second show Marty Stonerock and Becky Eck; the final feature Stonerock, John Bateman, and Julie Snyder. Below, you'll find the complete press release, including details on how to order tickets.
